What’s in a Name? Get the Programme name Right

 

If you do a Google search of MBBS in Georgia or Ukraine, you will probably come across several ‘MD’ programmes.

Do not let this confuse you!

In Eastern European countries, the undergraduate degree is called an MD i.e. a Medical Doctor degree. And yes, this is equivalent to the MBBS degree that you would get in India.

Entry Requirements

  1. NEET: The Medical Council of India or MCI mandates that all Indian students must qualify NEET to study medicine in India or abroad. Once you qualify, your results are valid for a period of 3 years, during which time you can seek admission in any university in Eastern Europe.

 

Important: we will make sure that the universities you go to are recognised by the MCI (Medical Council of India) for validity of the degree in India.

 

  1. Minimum marks in 12th Boards: to study medicine, 11th and 12th grade schooling in Physics, Chemistry and Biology stream or PCB is mandatory. The minimum score in the final board exam varies by country, as follows.

  1. Language requirements: there are NO minimum language requirements for education in Eastern Europe. You will not need IELTS or TOEFL to qualify for admission (the only exception being Georgia (where it is optional)).

 

  1. Entrance exam: there is no additional entrance examination required for admission.

Application and Admission

The application process for admission to a medical degree programme in Eastern Europe is as simple as it can get!

All you need are the following documents:

  • 12th board exam mark sheet
  • 10th board exam mark sheet
  • NEET qualified certification
  • Passport
  • Application form (we’ll help with this one)

Coming back to Medical Practice in India

Upon completion of your degree and your return to India, you will have to answer the Foreign Graduate Examination or FMGE. The examination is held in June/July every year. Once you qualify you will be eligible for medical practice or for higher education in India.

The curricula designed for universities in Eastern Europe are suited to the framework of FMGE – you will not require any additional training or prep to qualify!

(P.S. the FMGE will be replaced by NEXT exam in the coming years.)
