The University of Adelaide is a member of the prestigious ‘Group of Eight’- i.e. a collective of the top universities in Australia, it ranks among the top 1% universities worldwide, and is well established as a leading research university. Founded in 1874, making it the 3rd oldest university in Australia, it offers programmes across a wide range of subjects culminating in undergraduate, postgraduate and advanced research degrees.

It has been ranked in the top 100 worldwide for 16 taught subjects, according to QS ratings for 2019 – 4 of which have made it to the top 50, including mineral and mining engineering, dentistry, nursing and veterinary sciences. With a campus located in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia – beautiful city, and a cultural hub – the University of Adelaide boasts of a 21000 plus strong student population, with more than 8000 international students.

1. Entry requirements

The minimum requirement to enter into one of the University of Adelaide’s highly demanded Masters programmes by coursework, is the successful completion of an undergraduate degree, in the same or related field for certain subject areas such as Engineering.

English language requirements need to be satisfied through achievement of minimum required scores in one of the following internationally-recognised English tests – IELTS, TOEFL, Pearsons PTE, and Cambridge English.

2. Costs and Funding

The tuition fee structure varies as per the course – for instance, a Master of Arts would cost you 35500 AUD while a Master of Engineering would cost 43000 AUD.

Scholarships: A number of scholarships are available to international students, some of which internationals are automatically considered for at the time of application, awarded on the basis of merit – including the Global Citizens Scholarship awards a 15-30% reduction in tuition fee, while the Global Academic Excellence awards a 50% reduction.

3. Application timeline

For study commencing in February 2020 i.e. Semester 1, the application deadline for most programmes is December 1 2019; certain programmes have earlier closing dates.
