Located in Melbourne – home to several of Australia’s top universities, and thus a vibrant academic environment – the Swinburne Institute of Technology is over a century old, ranks among the QS top 3% of universities worldwide, ranks highly in terms of student satisfaction and has one of the top design schools in the world. It offers certificate and diploma courses, as well as undergraduate, postgraduate and advanced research degree programmes across an eclectic range of disciplines. It is best known for its design courses, and is a highly popular choice for international students seeking to pursue an MBA.

1. Entry requirements

The minimum requirements for admission varies across courses – for instance for entry into a graduate certificate or diploma programme in Design, a three-year Bachelors degree in a field of design is required, while for an MBA, it is a Bachelors in any discipline or a Graduate Certificate of Business Administration (also offered at Swinburne).

English language requirements can be fulfilled by achieving minimum scores in one of the following internationally-recognised English tests, including IELTS Academic, TOEFL, and PTE Academic, or  Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes test – the minimum scores required, varies across courses.

2. Costs and Funding

Indicative tuition fee for different courses are available at the following link – https://www.swinburne.edu.au/study/international/fees/. Some examples include 29500-36180 AUD annually for Business and Management Masters Courses, and 29520 AUD for graduate diplomas and Master’s Degrees in Design.

Scholarships: The Swinburne International Excellence Scholarship is offered to high achieving international students studying at various levels – for most Masters Degrees, 10-25% of the tuition fee or a maximum of 21000 AUD is awarded annually for two years maximum. Application for the scholarship is automatic upon applying for a course, and the chances for receiving a scholarship, or a higher award, depends on your grades.

3. Application timeline

For intake for semester 1, commencing in March, applications generally close in February, while for semester 2, commencing in August, applications generally close in July.
