NMIT is a top tertiary education provider, located in New Zealand, with a total of 5 campuses in the Nelson-Marlborough region, offering courses in professional, technical and vocational education, as it has since its inception in 1904.
NMIT mainly awards diplomas and certificates, in addition to a number of short courses, aiming at the development of specific skill-sets, often as a stepping stone to help you get ahead in your career. It also awards degrees – in addition to Bachelors degrees, it introduced its first Masters degree only 2 years ago. NMIT is best known for its courses related to the broad areas of forestry, aviation and tourism, and plays a key role in R&D for the region at the heart of which it is located. Of its total student body of approximately 7500, around 1700 are international.
1. Entry requirements
The entry requirement for Indian students, for both diploma/certificate and undergraduate degree courses, is the completion of the Higher Secondary School certificate; for the Masters of Applied Management course, the minimum requirement is an undergraduate degree from a recognised institution.
English language requirement is satisfied by achieving the minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS, with no individual score below 6.
2. Costs and Funding
The fees for the several of the diploma and certificate courses offered at NMIT tops at 10000 $NZ, including the 240 $NZ Student Services Levy.
Various scholarships, largely valued at 1500-2000 $NZ are available for several individual courses.
3. Application timeline
There are generally no fixed dates for application; applicants are generally advised to apply well in advance of the start date of their preferred course. Semester 1 begins in February, while semester 2 begins in July.
