Located in the pretty city of Perth, Curtin University boasts a rank in the top 1% of global universities according to ARWU 2018, offering undergraduate, graduate and advanced research degree programmes. Its student population numbers up to 58000, with a large percentage of international students as well. The subjects of study for which it is best known, attracting students worldwide, include Biological Sciences, Mineral and Mining Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, Agriculture and Forestry, and Earth and Marine Sciences among several others.

1. Entry requirements

For entry into the graduate programmes at Curtin University, a Bachelors degree awarded by a recognised institution of higher/tertiary education is required. Completion of the degree in a related field of study, or additional work experience, may also be required, depending on the faculty in question. Degrees awarded overseas are assessed for equivalence in reference to an Australian Bachelors degree on a case-by-case basis.

English language requirements: While certain faculties may demand higher language requirements, in general, the requirements are as follows – the completion of an English Language Bridging Program at Curtin or another university, or achieving minimum scores in an English test, including IELTS Academic, TOEFL, PTE Academic or Cambridge English. 

Costs and Funding

Curtin University tuition fees for international students vary according to the course studied. For each course, an indicative total course fee is published on the university website, making it convenient for you to find out how much the tuition fee would be for your preferred course. These are a few examples: Master of Engineering Science (Mining) –77400 AUD, Master of Science – 65500 AUD. Refer to the website for more.

Scholarships: Curtin University offers various kinds of scholarships with varying award amounts, both need- and merit-based. The CRL Merit Scholarship, for instance, is offered to high achieving international students, covering 10% of their first year of tuition (up to 4000 USD) – all international students applying to Curtin University for 2020 will be automatically assessed for the award of this scholarship.

2. Application timeline

Applications for Postgraduate courses, with study commencing in Semester 1, 2020 are open, and will close on February 6, 2020. Certain courses have earlier deadlines.
