ASU, ranked 215 worldwide according to QS ratings, is a major public university in the USA offering undergraduate, graduate, and graduate research (PhD etc) programmes as well as several short certificate courses. It is considered one of the best institutions for courses in STEM subjects according to Popular Mechanics, and among the top 10 for business management according to Shanghai rankings. With its main campus located in Tempe, Arizona, and several additional campuses or learning centres across the Phoenix metropolitan area and regional Arizona, ASU is one of the largest universities in the country, boasting of a population of over 42000 ‘Sun Devils’. ASU has also been ranked as the top choice for international students, with an international student population of close to 10000.

1. Entry Requirements

 

For entry into a graduate programme, a bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.00 point scale is required. Certain departments may also demand GRE or GMAT with a minimum score. 

 

English Language Requirements are satisfied by a minimum score of 66 in TOEFL pBT (taken after 2017), or 80 in TOEFL iBT, or 6.5 in IELTS, or 60 in PTE Academic.

 

2. Costs and Funding

 

The total annual cost to study at ASU for a full-time international graduate student is approximately 29000 USD. This includes the international tuition fee of 25200 USD, as well as the Graduate Support Fee, the Student Initiated Fees, Student Health Insurance and the International Visa and Admin Fee of 200 USD.

 

Scholarships: a number of scholarships, offered by ASU as well as external agents, are available to international graduate students at ASU, mainly for specific courses or subjects areas, such as The Arthur John Fitzgerald Scholarship for counselling, and The Martin Wong Foundation for fine art, namely painting and ceramics.

 

3. Application Timeline

 

Applications for Spring Semester 2020 have been open since February 1 2019, and for the Fall Semester 2020 since September 1 2020 – application deadlines are programme-specific.
