MBBS Abroad: Admission Process and Top Tips
Doing MBBS abroad in a country like Russia or Georgia is the best decision for your career!
But the admission process to get into college, especially when you choose to study abroad, can be quite complicated and often a bit worrisome.
That’s why we’re here to break it down for you and make it as simple as possible!
What is the Admission Process for MBBS abroad?
It involves just 4 simple but important steps.
Remember, admissions are processed on a first-come-first-serve basis!
Step 1: Fill the application form and submit all important documents.
The application form is available online, however the best and most convenient way is to access and fill the forms through your education consultant. Hurray can help you with that! We have partners on the ground in Russia and Georgia. We have all our protocols in place to make the process smooth and easy for you!
The important documents include:
- Scanned and Self-Attested Std 10 marks cards
- Scanned and Self-Attested Std 12 marks cards (PCB stream) – you must have achieved the minimum required percentage, such as 50% for Russia and 60% for Georgia
- NEET certificate – indicating that you have achieved at least the minimum passing score
- Migration/Transfer Certificate – from your last educational institute
- Birth Certificate in English
- Valid Passport
- Guardians’ Bank Statement – indicating that you have enough funds to pay the tuition fee and live in Russia or Georgia
- Medical Certificate – you may need to test for certain diseases before your application can be processed
- Passport Size Photos
Hurray can help you with organising the package and submitting it to your target universities.
Note: universities may allow you to apply before you receive your final marks card/NEET certificate. However, you will compulsorily have to show these documents at a later date.
Step 2: Receive the offer letter from the university and pay the first year’s tuition fee.
Provided that you have achieved the minimum requirements, and have submitted a fully-completed application form, you will receive your offer letter in no time!
You will have to pay the tuition fee in order to confirm your admission. Your tuition fee for the first year will typically range between 3000-8000 USD, depending on the country or university. The average fees for several Russian and Georgian universities are 4500-5500 USD.
Step 3: Apply with relevant documents for the Student Visa.
Along with your passport, you will have to submit your offer letter, proof of fee payment, birth, medical and transfer certificates (and any other documents that may be demanded) to the Visa officials of the concerned country, typically at the Embassy.
Student Visas are prioritised, so you will not have to wait long.
For a Russian student visa, you can apply 45 days before your planned arrival, and can expect to receive it within 2-3 weeks.
The Georgian student visa takes between 45 to 60 days for processing.
Step 4: Get ready to fly to the country!
With your seat guaranteed, your flight tickets booked, and your visa in hand, all that’s left is to get ready to go abroad for your MBBS!
There are a few more things that you will have to look into:
- booking accommodation in a hostel – Hurray can help with this
- packing for the weather – you will arrive in Autumn / Winter season, and the temperatures will be very low
- learning a bit of the local language – while you will be able to communicate in English, knowing a few Russian or Georgian phrases would be very helpful!
